The 2026 Great American River Race (TGARR)

August 1 @ 10:00 am - August 9 @ 12:00 pm
$250

The 2026 Great American River Race (TGARR) is an epic test of endurance, ingenuity, and river sense—following America’s most iconic waterway from the heart of the Midwest to the Gulf.

The race will start from Harriet Island in Saint Paul, Minnesota on August 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM CDT, sending teams southbound on the Mississippi River to the Tombigbee Waterway in a nonstop push toward the Gulf of Mexico. The finish is the Dauphin Island Marina, just outside Mobile, AL. This finish location is tentative and subject to final confirmation.

TGARR is not a sprint, a spectacle, or a luxury adventure. It’s a real river race—long miles, changing conditions, commercial traffic, weather, fatigue, and decision-making under pressure. Teams compete with minimal support, relying on preparation, judgment, and grit to manage navigation, fuel, repairs, rest, and strategy along the way.

With a strict budget cap and simple rules, TGARR levels the playing field and puts the focus where it belongs: man + machine vs. the river.

No stages.
No shortcuts.
No excuses.

Just the river, the clock, and the challenge of going the distance.
